Belgian flooring specialist, Beaulieu International Group (BIG), has announced plans to cut 95 jobs within its doormat and luxury vinyl divisions.

Steep competition, declining sales volumes, and high wage and energy costs have deeply impacted the carpet segment, according to the management.

Despite a transformation plan and several investments, the current market conditions do not allow for profitability.

Operations such as carpet and luxury vinyl tile production are carried out in Wielsbeke, West Flanders. This site also hosts the company’s vinyl roll production, houses a large showroom, and remains an important strategic site for Beaulieu, unaffected by the recent announcements.

Following these closures, BIG plans to focus on developing its profitable sectors and ensuring sustainable growth throughout the group, which employs over 4,700 people worldwide.
