Pharmaceutical company Sanofi is poised to cut 99 jobs from its Ghent and Diegem sites, De Tijd reports.

In Ghent, the company plans to cut 67 jobs, while 32 positions are at stake in Diegem. The reorganisation is part of a broader global restructuring.

Employing around 1,600 people in Belgium, the company says it needs to adjust its working methods and further modernise its organisation to “become a global player in immunology”.

The focus now lies on new vaccines and immunology drugs “that could be the first or best in their class, making a genuine difference for patients”.

“We currently have 12 new drugs and vaccines in clinical development that could become promising treatments for immune-related disorders,” the company confirms.
