Grindr users have filed a lawsuit against the LGBTQ+ dating app in London, accusing the company of sharing sensitive personal data with advertisers without user consent.

The information allegedly shared includes ethnicity and sexual orientation, as well as data regarding HIV tests.

In 2021, Grindr was fined $6 million by Norway for breaching European privacy laws.

The UK’s privacy protection body is also investigating the app and has issued privacy warnings.

One of the lawyers behind the lawsuit argues that Grindr owes compensation to users whose data was shared and who have suffered distress as a result.
