The VRT has described its new management agreement with the Flemish government as an “ambitious vision for the future.”

On Friday evening, the Flemish government reached an agreement during its final cabinet meeting outlining expectations for the public broadcaster over the next five years, starting from 2026, and detailing the resources allocated to Reyerslaan.

“The Board of Directors received an initial briefing from the management this morning and is now reviewing the proposal,” VRT sources said on Saturday. They emphasised that the agreement sets out a forward-looking vision with new and challenging objectives for VRT.

It’s vital for the VRT to remain adaptable as a strong public broadcaster in a swiftly evolving media landscape where the media consumer is the focal point.

Therefore, ensuring that the VRT can fulfil these responsibilities within a financially sustainable framework throughout the duration of the agreement is crucial, allowing the broadcaster to continue responding to changing media consumption habits.
