Electra, a rapid electric vehicle charging station operator, announced on Thursday that it has secured up to €433 million through a new green loan, bringing its total funding to over €1 billion since the company was established.

Currently, Electra operates more than 500 rapid-charging stations, offering over 3,000 charging points across nine European countries. In Belgium, the network includes 113 stations and 706 rapid charging points.

The company aims to expand to 2,200 stations and 15,000 high-power charging points by 2030, focusing on dense urban areas, transit hubs, business districts, and major highways.

“This financing marks a significant milestone, allowing Electra to continue rapidly expanding its network across Europe, consolidate the market, and ultimately accelerate the adoption of electric mobility across the continent,” said Aurélien de Meaux, CEO and co-founder of Electra, in a statement.

Previously, the company secured a green loan of €75 million in June 2024 to support its growth in Belgium.
