European payroll and HR services provider SD Worx is acquiring a majority stake in Belgian company huapii, according to a press release.
Huapii is a software company in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean that created a talent platform for employees to manage their skills training and track performance.
In acquiring the majority stake, SD Worx hopes to strengthen its talent management offering while giving the Brussels-based company a springboard to an international breakthrough.
“We were looking for a partner who could help us with our international growth,” Bruce Fecheyr-Lippens, one of huapii's founders, said in a statement.
“Initially, we are looking at the Netherlands and the Scandinavian countries, then we would also like to start up quickly in Germany, France and the United Kingdom. SD Worx's participation will enable us to achieve this growth.”
Brussels company will retain its ‘individuality’ while gaining access to broader growth opportunities
Fecheyr-Lippens says the company will be able to retain its individuality “and at the same time surf along with the international success story of SD Worx.”
Huapii recently won the HR Excellence Award in the category Best Employee Engagement & Rewards Company.
“The war for talent is raging. More than ever, companies are looking for solutions to stimulate and monitor the development of the skills and competences of their employees,” Kobe Verdonck, CEO of SD Worx said in a statement.

“With the majority holding in huapii we are now strengthening our talent management offering. We already had classic performance management tools and ERP solutions for talent, but with the huapii software we go a step further and offer our customers a user-friendly application that gives their employees every opportunity to develop themselves. This is more relevant than ever in the war for talent.”
Huapii currently has eleven employees and an office in Brussels. Its clients include Accent Jobs, DPG Media, Nipro and Telenet. In addition to a digital platform, Huapii offers its clients related consulting services to help develop talent.
The amount that SD Worx is investing in huapii is not disclosed.
