U.S. authorities have opened an investigation into electric carmaker Tesla after some complaints about its Model Y vehicles.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it opened the investigation on Saturday after learning of two incidents in which the steering wheel of Model Y vehicles detached from the steering column while driving.
The cars were allegedly delivered to customers without the mounting bolt that holds the steering wheel in place.
The regulator said the investigation, which covers more than 120,000 vehicles, will assess the “scope, frequency, and manufacturing processes associated with this condition.”
