The Antwerp-Bruges Port will increase its concession and port fees by 4.09% from 1 January 2024, announced its manager on Thursday.

The operator of the port facilities highlighted that this hike aligns with the Consumer Price Index of August. He added: "This increase is also consistent with previous years and agreements made with all interest groups. As in recent years, we must continue to make investments to maintain our long-term competitiveness."

Investment costs, especially in relation to material and labour prices, have risen disproportionately, said the port.

“Our long-term competitiveness is not only tied to the infrastructure but also to several factors such as digitisation,” added the port operator. “Existing revenues, concessions, and port fees must cover these costs.”

Concession rates and port fees include tariff regulations on ships, inland navigation, and the use of docks or lands in the port area. Tugboat fees are also set to rise.
