European gas prices hit their highest level in a year on Wednesday, after Ukraine reportedly used British Storm Shadow missiles for the first time to target facilities on Russian soil.
Earlier in the week, Kyiv also reportedly fired US long-range missiles at Russia.
On Wednesday, the price of gas on the main Dutch futures market rose by more than 2% to top €46 per megawatt-hour.
The European gas market remains highly volatile. Rising geopolitical tensions with Russia, which continues to supply certain European countries via pipeline, regularly push up prices.
