The College of Europe, with a campus in Bruges, has reappointed Federica Mogherini as chancellor.
This decision was made by the board of directors. The former EU foreign policy chief will begin her second term on 1 September 2025.
The board aims to acknowledge Mogherini’s leadership and dedication with this reappointment. “During her first term, Mogherini invested in several large-scale projects and internal transformations, including the establishment of a new campus in Tirana, Albania,” the board stated.
"I am honoured and grateful for the trust the board and the entire college community have placed in me over the past five years and continue to place for the upcoming five years," said Mogherini. "It is a privilege to lead the College of Europe every day. I look forward to consolidating the projects we have initiated together with our students, alumni, professors, staff, and partners."
The board of directors also appointed Christophe de Nijs, Director-General for European Affairs and Coordination at the Belgian Foreign Ministry, as vice-chairman. In May, the board had already extended the mandates of chairman Herman Van Rompuy and second vice-chairman Pawel Samecki.
