A man in Canada has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for terrorism-related offences after an investigation supported by Europol, the agency said.

The man, based in Ontario’s Niagara region, pleaded guilty to producing and sharing violent white supremacist propaganda linked to an online extremist network known as the Terrorgram Collective, Europol announced on Wednesday.

Material he co-created and disseminated online was found to have inspired multiple terrorist attacks.

Europol said its involvement began in mid-2022, when its European Counter Terrorism Centre started mapping the Terrorgram network and identifying people connected to it in Europe and beyond.

That work produced intelligence packages identifying key figures and “high-value targets” seen as posing a cross-border threat.

Intelligence shared with Canadian police

Those intelligence products were shared with international partners, including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, supporting investigations and contributing to arrests and court outcomes, Europol said.

The Terrorgram Collective is an online network that promotes violent extremist ideology and has been designated a terrorist entity in several countries, including the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.
