In the Netherlands, a man was arrested because he was associated with a website where people could order the coronavirus in a tube to infect themselves.

The Dutch website was called jaikwilcorona.nl ("yes, I want corona" in English) and sold "corona kits" for €33,50, with which buyers could infect themselves, according to reports in the Telegraaf on Saturday.

The website stated that everything needed for a deliberate infection would simply be delivered by post.

After the deliberate infection and with a recovery certificate, people could regain access to nightlife and other events that required a Covid Safe Ticket (CST), without being vaccinated or having to get tested every time.

The man has been accused of scamming.

He was arrested on Friday by the Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service (FIOD) and has been released again in the meantime, a spokesperson confirmed.

An investigation is still underway to determine if and how many tubes the man sold, and whether the virus worked. The website has since been taken offline.
