A family drama occurred in the West Flanders town of Kuurne on Wednesday, when a woman suffocated her helpless husband in bed, then presumably tried to kill herself.
The woman was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, according to the public prosecutor of West Flanders, Kortrijk Department.
The couple was found in bed on Wednesday. The man had already died and the woman, who was very disoriented, was taken to the emergency room of the AZ Groeninge hospital complex.
An autopsy of the man’s body showed that he had been suffocated. An investigating judge was then ordered. When questioned, the woman admitted that she had stifled her husband with a pillow.
The prosecution is seeking her arrest for the murder of her husband.
