The Risk Management Group (RMG) decided on Thursday evening to scale down the alert level of respiratory infections to code green and the "Winter Plan" to end this year, based on indicators from the Sciensano National Health Institute.

Following several months of many Covid-19 cases and other respiratory infections in Belgium, the alert level has now dropped to green following the indicators of Sciensano's RespiRadar and the advice of the RAG (Risk Assessment Group).

"The circulation of respiratory infections is now back at a low level and the pressure on the healthcare system is well under control," the Health Ministry announced in a press release.

However, it remains possible to contract a respiratory infection. The basic recommendations (regularly washing your hands, coughing and sneezing into your elbow) to protect the most vulnerable people therefore still apply, especially for people who are ill. It also remains recommended to stay home when sick, or to wear a mask as long as you are showing symptoms.
