Hidden Belgium: Brasserie Verscheuren

Hidden Belgium: Brasserie Verscheuren

Located in the heart of the Saint-Gilles district of Brussels, Brasserie Verscheuren was founded by Louis Verscheuren in 1880.

Originally, it was a store where you could buy beers brewed on the site. It later became a handsome art deco cafe with a tiled floor, wood panelling and modernist lamps.

It is a popular meeting spot for fans of the local football team Union Saint-Gilloise. There is even a vintage scoreboard from the 1950s hanging on a back wall. The cafe still has its own beers on tap, but they are now brewed by the Brasserie de Ranke.
