Road checks carried out on Thursday evening at the Dour Festival enabled police officers to intercept two individuals in possession of drugs, the Dour-Hauts-Pays police said in a statement on Friday.
During one of the checks, a passenger was arrested in possession of a large quantity of drugs, a precision scale, two mobile phones and €320. The driver was under the influence of drugs.
Police seized the vehicle was seized and detained the two men. Two subsequent searches in Namur led to the discovery of 2 kilogrammes of cannabis resin and 3.14 kilogrammes of marijuana. Local police said 157 vehicles were checked during the evening, and more than 5 kilogrammes of various drugs seized.
Despite this, the general atmosphere of the festival, which runs from 16 to 20 July, remained "particularly calm and friendly," police said.
"Festival-goers are enjoying the event in good spirits, and interactions between law enforcement and the public are taking place in a friendly manner," the police added, noting that 41,620 admissions to the concert site were recorded on Thursday.
