French authorities have launched an investigation following the death of a 46-year-old man during a live stream on a video platform, according to the Nice Prosecutor’s Office.
The man, Raphaël Graven, was better known online by his aliases 'Jean Pormanove' or 'JP.' He passed away on Monday in Contes, a small village north of Nice.
Graven had gained notoriety for appearing in controversial videos where he was subjected to violence and humiliation, often involving two other individuals.
On Monday, a live-streamed video that aired on the Australian platform Kick, and has since been widely shared online, reportedly showed 'JP' lying motionless under a duvet shortly before his death or the discovery of his body. In the footage, two other men can be seen, one of them tossing a bottle of water in his direction.
The French authorities have ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
