Two Belgian women have died near the French city of Limoges following a traffic accident on Sunday, the local newspaper Le Populaire du Centre reports. The victims were aged 65 and 24.

The collision occurred just before 10:00 on the A20 motorway in direction of Paris, when the car they were driving in overtook another vehicle before the driver lost control of the wheel. The car hit a hard shoulder before flying off the ground and hitting the safety rails.

Police confirmed that no other car was involved in the collision but that both the Belgian driver and passenger died in the accident.

An investigation into the circumstances is currently ongoing, with both victims' causes of death to be announced on Monday.
