Audi’s Brussels plant has lost its bid to build the carmaker’s new electric model, the Landjet, which has now been awarded to the Volkswagen Hanover site, L’Echo reported on Saturday.
According to L’Echo, Audi’s Belgian plant had made a bid to assemble the Landjet, developed out of the Artemis Project, at an internal call for tenders in August.
Production of the large, electric-powered luxury vehicle, the future flagship of the Volkswagen Group, is set to begin in 2024.
The Brussels plant had hoped to win the award after beating the group’s German factories to the contract to manufacture the Audi e-tron model.
