Nearly one hundred construction sites across Belgium will be open to the public during the 16th edition of Journées Chantiers Ouverts (Open Construction Day), to be held on Sunday 7 May, event organiser Embuild announced in a press release on Thursday.

The programme includes major infrastructure works, housing construction and renovations, according to the construction federation.

The aim is to show visitors “how innovative construction is and how it can offer sustainable solutions for housing, mobility and the climate, among other things,”  Embuild Managing Director Niko Demeester explained.

A new courthouse being built in Namur, renovations in the Vandeuren District in Ixelles and housing under construction in the Ardennes village of Lavacherie, Luxembourg province, are among the construction sites that can be visited physically or virtually. The full list of these building sites is available on the event’s website.

The previous edition attracted 54,000 in-person visitors and 141,000 online.
