After protracted transfer negotiations, Belgium international Charles De Keteleare has moved from Club Brugge to Italian giants AC Milan, becoming the Jupiler Pro League's most expensive export in the process.

Charles De Keteleare, who was named Belgian Young Player of the Year in 2021, has switched one league champion for another, joining last season's Serie A winners AC Milan from Jupiler Pro League champion Club Brugge.

AC Milan had to fend off interest from English side Leeds United and undertake lengthy negotiations with Club Brugge, who were set on making De Ketelaere most expensive outgoing transfer in the history of the Jupiler Pro League.

In the end, they got their wish as the €35 million transfer fee they received for him, trumps the €27 million French side Lille payed to get Canadian striker Jonathan David out of Gent in 2020.

De Keteleare's transfer is also the most expensive fee payed for a Belgian player coming out of Belgium's top league, surpassing the €26 Million Rennes payed to get Jeremy Doku, the former Anderlecht attacker, to come to France.
