Paracycling: Louis Clincke wins World Cup Gold

Louis Clincke (C4) won gold in the time trial at the Paracycling World Cup in Quebec on Friday.

The 35-year-old from East Flanders covered 26.4 kilometres, including a major uphill section, in 37:09 minutes, 27 seconds faster than Irishman Ronan Grimes. American John Terrell finished third, 1:09 min. behind Clincke.

In the C2 category, Ewoud Vromant took the bronze medal, 11 seconds behind the winner, Australian Darren Hicks. Frenchman Alexandre Leaute finished five seconds faster than Vromant for silver.

In C1, Koen Heuvinck placed sixth, while the duo formed by Milan Thomas and Jonas Goeman finished ninth.

On Thursday, handbike rider Maxime Hordies (H1) won the silver medal behind Italy’s Fabrizio Corneliani, while Jona Van De Steene (H4) finished seventh.

In the tricycles, Tim Celen (T2) won silver on Friday, behind Germany’s Maximilian Jäger.
