Belgium wants to supply additional anti-tank and anti-aircraft artillery to the Ukrainian armed forces, Defence Minister Ludivine Dedonder said on the eve of a crucial meeting of the Ukraine Contact Group in Ramstein, Germany.

The meeting is meant to coordinate further aid to Kyiv as the Russian army throws its troops into battle in the eastern city of Bakhut.

Ukraine on Thursday called on its Western allies to “significantly increase” their arms supplies in order to confront the Russian army.

In response to a question from Mouvement Réformateur parliamentarian Michel De Maegd,  the minister recalled the military and civilian support Belgium already provides Ukraine.

Current support, not counting the anti-tank and anti-aircraft equipment mentioned on Thursday, already amounts to €90 million, Minister Dedonder said.

The issue will be discussed at Friday's Council of Ministers meeting.
