Police seized €731,000 in cash during a house search in Ixelles on Thursday, following a patrol operation that began with the observation of suspicious behaviour in a vehicle.
Officers from the Brussels Capital/Ixelles police zone noticed two individuals acting suspiciously while on patrol on 29 January. Suspecting an ongoing drug deal, police placed the suspects under surveillance.
A search was later carried out at the home of one of the suspects. Officers seized several luxury items and mobile phones, as well as multiple bundles of cash. A detailed count revealed a total amount of €731,000.
The suspects, who are already known to police for drug trafficking offences, have not yet been arrested and are currently being sought. The investigation is ongoing.
The public prosecutor’s office praised the officers involved for their vigilance and efficiency, saying their actions led to the seizure of a significant sum of money.
