Uber reveals the strangest items left behind by Belgian riders whilst using their rideshare services, with reportedly more than 7,500 items left in the back seat over a year.
An air fryer, a dental brace, a ski mask, or even a doll walk are among the wild backseat discoveries in Uber's latest Lost & Found Index, which tracks the belongings passengers forget during journeys across Belgium, Sudinfo reported.
Between April 2025 and February 2026, passengers forgot a total of 7,598 items during trips booked through the ride-hailing platform, Sudinfo reported.
Smartphones, luggage, and wallets are reportedly among the most forgotten items. According to Uber, 559 smartphones were left behind during the reporting period, alongside 243 pieces of luggage and 218 wallets.
The timing of these losses also revealed a pattern. Most forgotten items were reported between midnight and 03:00, with 01:00 emerging as the peak hour for distracted passengers. Weekends proved particularly problematic, with Saturdays and Sundays recording the highest number of forgotten belongings.
Belgium is far from unique.
Uber says similar trends can be observed in major cities around the world, where busy schedules, nightlife and hectic routines often lead passengers to leave things behind. New York City earned the title of America's most forgetful city, while Sunday was crowned as the most forgetful day on the list.
Some of the strangest items forgotten internationally included: 420 doughnuts, live fish, a dishwasher, two wedding dresses, a wizard's wand and a child's prosthetic eye.
For passengers who discover too late that something has been left in the back seat, Uber says the recovery process can be initiated through its app.
Users can select the relevant trip in the Activity section, report a lost item and contact the driver to arrange its return.
