The Russian security services (FSB) say they have identified a new suspect in the murder of journalist and political scientist Daria Duguina.

According to the FSB, the suspect is a Ukrainian who was born in 1978 and entered Russia via Estonia on 30 July.

The man allegedly helped plan the murder and then left the country, the FSB is quoted as saying by state news agency Tass.

The daughter of Alexandre Duguine, an ultranationalist ideologue and writer who is close to the Kremlin, Daria Duguine was killed on Saturday 20 August when her car exploded. Shortly after her death, investigators accused a first suspect from Ukraine.

Russia claims the attack was planned and carried out by Ukrainian intelligence. Kyiv denies any involvement.

Like her father, Daria Duguina was a staunch supporter of the Russian offensive in Ukraine.
