Germany is allowing other countries to supply German-made Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine, sources in German government circles said on Tuesday, following media reports to that effect.

The German government had yet not officially confirmed the decision. It was expected to do so on Wednesday, according to Der Spiegel newspaper, which reported that Chancellor Olaf Scholz had given his approval to send tanks from Germany as well.

Scholz is expected to give the green light on Wednesday for the delivery of German Type 2A6 Leopard 2 tanks, Der Spiegel said on its website. This involves "at least one company, that is, at least 10 heavy tanks,” the newspaper added.

The German leader is scheduled to address the Bundestag on Wednesday afternoon.
