The University of Ghent has reported that a team of bio-engineers have discovered 17 ritual monuments and many prehistoric remains on the Stonehenge site in Britain.
"Stonehenge is surrounded by land containing more prehistoric remains than previously thought," said Professor MarcVan Meirvenne."The site is classified by Unesco, therefore only non-invasive techniques can be used to conduct large-scale research," he added.
Over the last two years Ghent engineers have used an electromagnetic sensor to scan 1.25 km2. "By combining different techniques, many previously unknown artifacts have been discovered, including the remains of these 17 monuments."
