The American video on demand service, Netflix, hopes to win a third of Belgian households within 5 to 10 years, said Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, in an interview with the Belga news agency on Friday. The Netflix group took to Twitter to announce its arrival in Belgium
“In the United States, after 7 years (2007-2014), we have managed to reach a third of consumers. So we hope to reach a third of Belgian households in the next 5 to 10 years. Five years is if we are really lucky, “revealed Reed Hastings.
The Netflix boss recalls the importance of the European market as a whole. The fact that Europe is larger than the United States is an expansion opportunity for the group. “But for us, Europe is just one part of the world and we want Netflix to be available everywhere.”
Reed Hastings says he is pleased with the feedback he has received concerning the recent arrival of Netflix in several European countries. “These last few days have been exciting because of the reaction and positive public response to what we have to offer,” he says. “It’s just fantastic.”
In the future, the American giant hopes to expand the variety of services offered to its customers.
