Ten new Belgian Michelin-starred establishments (Belgium-Luxembourg 2015 edition)

The 59th edition of the Belgium and Luxembourg Michelin Guide (2015) has published the names of the ten Belgian restaurants it has decided to award a first star to. Among the newcomers are "The Jane" in Antwerp, "D'Oude pastorie" in Lochristi "Publiek" in Ghent, "Philippe Meyers" in Braine-l'Alleud, "Les pieds dans le plat" in Marenne, "Aux petits onions" in Jodoigne "Héliport Brasserie" in Liege, "Le Monde est Petit" in Etterbeek, "Da Mimmo" in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert and "Le pigeon noir" in Uccle.
 
"We have noticed Belgian chefs are again favouring simplicity in their dishes and giving the ingredients the leading role. Culinary professionals are also quick to explore and use new techniques collected during their trips abroad," said Michael Ellis, director of the Michelin guides.

The leading gastronomy guide also confirmed the 3* status of several Belgian dining establishments: "Hof van Cleve" in Kruishoutem (Peter Goossens), "Hertog Jan" in Zedelgem (Gert De Mangeleer) and "De Karmeliet" in Bruges (Geert Van Hecke).

The famous Red Guide now has 1,075 addresses, including 3 triple-stars, 17 two-stars and 117 one-star restaurants.  The edition goes on sale on Thursday (21.95 euros).
