Brabant murders- Michel Libert released without charge

A suspect in the Brabant murders, Michel Libert, former No. 2 of Westland New Post (WNP) emerged from the court free of all charges. Michel Libert was in custody since his arrest on Wednesday at his home in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. The former No. 2 of the WNP, a right-wing extremist group, was questioned as a suspect by investigators of Walloon Brabant Unit before being brought before Judge Martine Michel on Thursday afternoon. According to the public prosecutor of Charleroi, Pierre Magnien, the former military officer emerged from the courthouse free of all charges.

Items were seized during the raid of Michel Libert’s home, but at this stage there is nothing to link him to the 1980’s Brabant murders.  Investigators were interested in the orders he would given to his subordinates at the time, especially about the surveillance of department stores, targets at the time of Brabant murders.
