A 44-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen on Tuesday during an argument between two families in Schaerbeek. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where he immediately underwent surgery. He is no longer on the critical list, said the northern police district (Schaerbeek, Evere, Saint-Josse-ten-Node) on Wednesday.
The alleged perpetrator, a 25-year-old male, handed himself in at the police station. The dispute broke out around 4 pm between two families of Turkish origin in the streets of Olivier, Schaerbeek. The reasons for the dispute are still unknown. One man was stabbed in the abdomen several times during the fight.
Aware of the gravity of his actions, the alleged perpetrator handed himself over to the police the same evening. He was brought before Brussels Public Prosecutor, who also visited the incident scene.
