Champagne on the up in Belgium

In 2014, 9,741,262 bottles of champagne were imported to Belgium, an increase of 2.3% compared to the year before. This makes Belgium the 5th biggest importer of French Champagne, according to the Benelux Champagne office. Belgium is responsible for 6.67% of all Champagne exports in the world, the office said.

As for the rest of the world, Champagne imports increased by 0.7% compared to 2013, reaching 307.1 million bottles. The turnover has gone up to 4.5 billion euros, which is the second best performance ever. This is thanks to the dynamism export market, the Champagne office said.
