A clash between Destelbergen and Genc Turk Gand in the Eastern Flanders 4th provincial division was stopped in the 43rd minute, with the score at 2-0. Some supporters attacked the referee, Lothar Van Impe, who collapsed and had to be taken to hospital. According to the head of sport for VS Destelbergen, Patick Maes, the clash was extremely tense from the start, and the referee had already been forced to give out several cards. “When he gave out another red card in the 43rd minute, some Genc Turk Gent supporters went crazy. They stormed onto the pitch and attacked the referee”, he said.
