An iVOX poll conducted on behalf of RTL, La Dernière Heure, VTM and Het Laatste Nieuws shows that 72.8% of Belgians feel Belgium is allowing too many migrants into the country, and 74.3% are calling for specific border measures and more thorough checks to be implemented to stem the flow. In total 76.8% of Belgians admit to being increasingly concerned by the migrant problem in Europe. But 25% of the population would be willing to volunteer to work in a reception centre for asylum seekers.
Eight percent said they would even be willing to host a migrant in their homes and 41% claim they would accept a temporary reception centre being set up in their neighbourhood.
The study was carried out by the market research firm iVOX on 26th and 27th of August and polled 2,000 Belgians aged 18-79 years old. The margin of error is 2.1%.
