The stormy rain that hit the Western Flanders province late on Saturday and early on Sunday caused a lot of damage. The emergency plan was activated in Torhout, where the town centre was flooded.
The Torhout and Bruges firefighters received numerous calls.
The whole of the North of the province was hit. Firefighters were called out to deal with uprooted trees, floods and damage caused by hail.
A house in Kortemark was severely damaged. Part of it collapsed. The Noodweer.be site claimed a small tornado crossed the region, but that has yet to be confirmed by satellite images.
Stormy supercells accompanied by gales and hailstones hit Western Flanders on Sunday, before heading towards Eastern Flanders and Antwerp.
