Some 1,637 Walloon complaints for animal cruelty during past year

In 2015, 1,637 animal cruelty cases were opened by Département de la Police et des Contrôles (DGO3) du Service Public de Wallonie (the police department responsible amongst other things for dealing with animal cruelty cases within Wallonia).
So reports La Dernière Heure on Monday.

This jaw-dropping number of complaints, in this instance communicated by the Walloon Minister for Animal Welfare Carlo Di Antonio (cdH - Centre Démocratic Humaniste - Francophone Christian Democratic Party), was raised as in the course of a verbal question in the Walloon Parliament. These complaints bit, above all, in respect of dogs and horses. Veterinary inspectors completed more than 600 field inspections, and 30 interventions concluded with the seizure of an animal, the Minister further indicated in his response. In the main, it was the case that these checks took place following a complaint.
