Man killed near Gare de l'Ouest in Molenbeek

A man was killed yesterday evening (Sunday) around 10 p.m., near the Gare de l'Ouest, in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. This information was disseminated by several media sources today, and confirmed by the police spokesman for Brussels-West, Johan Berckmans.

A vehicle was stopped at a red traffic light, with a single individual on board.

At that point, a motorbike approached him and its passenger fired several shots in the car driver's direction.

The motorcyclist fled, with the murderer still riding pillion, towards the Chaussée de Ninove in the direction of Dilbeek.

The driver of the vehicle died at the scene.

Johan Berckmans is putting forward the initial theory that it appears the killer may have had a score to settle.

He states that all investigative avenues remain open. Lab personnel are currently arriving at the scene and the investigation continues.
