A young woman, aged 27, whose body was found on the beach in Knokke on Sunday, did not pass away naturally. The Bruges section of the West Flanders Public Prosecutor's Office indicated yesterday (Tuesday) that violence was used in her death.
No warrants for the arrest of any suspects have been issued at present.
The victim's body was found below the beachside terrace of a hotel and catering establishment. Initial observations indicate that the woman appears to have died during the period between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The autopsy completed yesterday (Tuesday) indicates that a third party may be involved in the death.
The investigating judge has requested that the precise cause of death is not made public.
The victim's loved ones have specifically requested that the media does not attempt to contact them.
