Strong gusts of wind for Belgium until Wednesday

Strong gusts of wind for Belgium until Wednesday
With the bad weather forecast for today and tomorrow, you and your dog would be well advised to don a coat! Alternatively you could just stay indoors!

The weather will be variable, with regular ‘lines’ of rain showers during the day today (Tuesday). The wind will be strong with, sometimes strong gusts, during the showers, taking place. The showers will, at times, be accompanied by thunderstorms. Between these, the weather will be calmer with clear spells, according to the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI). Maximum temperatures will be 12 degrees Celsius in the Ardennes, and 17 degrees Celsius in the centre of Belgium.

The wind will be from a west-south-west direction. It will be fairly strong inland and sometimes quite strong at the coast. Gusts will sometimes reach 80 km/hour throughout the country with local instances of 100 km/h. Tomorrow (Wednesday), there will still be strong winds, with gusts reaching 70 km/h or even 80 km/h.

During this evening, showers are possible initially, but will become progressively less frequent and less intense. Tonight, the risk of showers will be lowest in the west. In the Ardennes, minimum temperatures will be between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius, whilst elsewhere, they will be between 11 and 13 degrees Celsius. The south-westerly wind will generally be fairly strong, and even occasionally still very strong at the coast. The RMI says that gusts will reach 50 km/h, especially during the evening.

On Wednesday the weather will be variable. In the first part of the day, showers will still be possible everywhere, with localised storms. During the afternoon, the weather will become dry, starting from the west with extensive clear spells. The wind will generally be moderate and sometimes fairly strong, both inland and at the coast, coming from a west-south-west direction. Gusts of up to 70 or 80 km/h are forecast. It will be slightly warmer with maximum temperatures of between 14 degrees in the Ardennes and 20 degrees in the north-east of the country.

On Thursday, the weather will become milder and the wind will abate. The sky will be partially very cloudy in the northern half of the country, with the possibility of some intermittent rain showers. In the south, the sun will be more generous and the weather dry. Maximum temperatures will be between 20 and 25 degrees, with a moderate south to south-westerly wind.
