Marc Dutroux’s new lawyer, Bruno Dayez, has commenced work on an improvement plan for his client. This is reported on Thursday in both the Sudpresse publications and Het Belang van Limburg. The Brussels lawyer would like to improve Marc Dutroux’s detention conditions, and envisages him leaving prison eventually.
The barrister has set a cut-off date of 2021. By then his client will have served 25 years in prison.
His lawyer said, “I have started making contacts. The avenue involving the religious community has the most serious implications. It remains a possible option. In any case, we have to protect Marc Dutroux from all reprisals. We are anticipating a form of restriction on Mr Dutroux, but outside of the prison environment.”
Bruno Dayez stresses that “enabling him to live in, for example, residential flats with an electronic tag is one possibility.”
