Islamic State: one Belgian returning to Belgium at behest of terrorist group
In May, Interpol disseminated a list of 173 people, who are potential terror threats, to intelligence services within its member states.

One Belgian features in the list of 173 assumed terrorists that Islamic State (IS) has sent to Europe. Het Laatste Nieuws and La Dernière Heure report on Tuesday that this individual, aged 24, is known as ‘Abu Omar Al-Belgiki’.

In May Interpol disseminated a list of 173 people, who are potential terror threats, to intelligence services in its member states. It contains individual IS members, who have been sent to Europe to perpetrate suicide attacks.

One Belgian is amongst the names listed. The latter is of Moroccan nationality and was residing, until recently, in Mosul (Iraq), which IS has just evacuated. No image of him has ever been disseminated, but Belgian intelligence services know him well.

His pseudonym appears to be a tribute to Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the assumed leader of the commandos who perpetrated the Paris attacks in November 2015. As for the rest of the list it comprises numerous Iraqis, as well as a large number of minors.
