A new express parking lot at Brussels’ Charleroi Airport, BSCA, will be open to the public from Monday, airport spokesman Vincent Grassa said. This will bring to 7,537 the number of parking slots at the airport, which has five official parking lots. The March 2016 terror attacks had led the BSCA to take additional security measures, including the suspension of express parking because it was too close to the airport’s halls. Studies have since shown that an express parking lot could be set up, using an access ramp, on the roof of P1 Parking, a few steps away from the pre-screening area
Work began in April last and the new parking lot, which has 659 places, will be accessible from Monday to anyone coming to drop off or pick up passengers. Red signs placed on its access ramp guide the driver from the time he enters the airport all the way to the parking lot. The minimum cost of express parking is two euros for the first 30 minutes.
Free parking for the first 15 minutes will still be maintained at P2 Parking for both drop-offs and pick-ups. Parking places for people with reduced mobility are located on all floors of Parking P1 and at the express parking, closest to the terminal, the BSCA said. t The Brussels Times
