Thalys attack: Mohamed Bakkali one of two suspects placed under arrest
Two Belgians, Mohamed Bakkali and Youssef S., have been indicted for participation in terrorist group activities, the first for masterminding the attack.

Mohamed Bakkali (30 years old) is one of two individuals placed under arrest on Tuesday by the investigating judge, as part of the investigation into the Thalys attack. This took place on August 21st, 2015. This was stated by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office. The two other individuals who were arrested for questioning, following the six searches on Monday, were freed after thorough questioning.

Two Belgians, Mohamed Bakkali and Youssef S. (aged 31), have been indicted for participation in terrorist group activities, the first for being the mastermind. As alluded to earlier, two searches were conducted on Monday morning at Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, as well as one in Anderlecht, one in Laeken, one in Andenne and one in Marche-en-Famenne.

These searches were at the request of the investigating judge in Brussels - a specialist in terrorism. During these searches, neither any weapons nor any explosives were discovered.
