There are 2,204 women in the Belgian army, compared to 25,687 men, La Dernière Heure revealed on Saturday.
While they are in the minority (7.92%), they can take any job in the army and the percentage of female soldiers has increased slightly (7.64% in 2015).
Only a small number of women are deployed abroad. In 2017, 2,933 soldiers were deployed abroad: 226 (7.71%) were women and 2,707 were men (92.29%).
