Flanders releases 2.2 million euros to encourage workers to cycle to work

Flemish mobility minister Ben Weyts has released the sum of 2.2 million euros to encourage workers to cycle to work. “I want bicycles to be more appealing for travel between home and workplace, both for workers and employers,” Weyts said.

The additional sum of 2.2 million euros comes from the “Pendelfonds”, a regional fund that supports sustainable initiatives by employers for travel between home and work, such as developing parking places for pooled cars or buying electric scooters.

In this case the money will be used for purchasing company cycles, installing charging stations for electric bicycles or increasing the allowance for workers who use their bicycles to go to work.
