The Flemish parliament will hold an introductory session for incoming lawmakers on Wednesday, in preparation for the swearing-in ceremony next week.

A majority of the Flemish parliament's 124 seats will be occupied by newly-elected MPs, after the regional elections in May ushered a wave of first-time lawmakers into Belgium's regional parliaments.

Out of the 67 new MPs who will lead the region's new legislative term, 43 have never sat in a regional parliament.

On Wednesday, the new members will be talked through the way the parliament works and will be given a tour of the chambers.

The Brussels-Capital Region and Walloon parliaments held their swearing-in ceremonies on Tuesday.

Both regional assemblies are now negotiating to constitute the majority coalitions which will lead their respective legislative terms for the next five years.
