Belgium has opened a criminal probe into a cyber-attack targeting oil movements through the ports of Antwerp and Bruges.

Antwerp prosecutors and the country's federal computer crime unit are collaborating with Dutch and German divisions through Europol, media reported.

Belga News Agency said that international terminal operator Sea Invest's systems ground to a virtual standstill this week, citing further intrusions at subsidiary Sea-Tank in Ghent.

It also cited a report from TASS news agency that quoted Moscow's deputy director of the National Coordination Center for Computer Incidents as saying "some foreign States" have made accessing Russia's "critical infrastructure facilities" was a "priority target" for the West, in an apparent allusion to suspicions of Russian involvement behind the Antwerp probe.
