Sharia 4 Belgium – Extra security measures during the appeal trial

The terrorism trial against Sharia 4 Belgium, which will start Thursday next week at the Antwerp appeal court, will again be surrounded by extra security measures, according to the Antwerp appeal court’s press service. There will be no filming or photography in the Courthouse. During the session, the press magistrate Jo Daenen will be on hand to explain how the case will go ahead.

Three defendants have appealed against their February convictions: Fouad Belkacem, 32, Houssien E., 24, and Mohamed E.Y, 31. The first two were sentenced to 12 years and prison and a 30,000 euro fine, and the third 4 years in prison and a 15,000 euro fine. The other 42 defendants decided not to appeal. Most of them were absent during the trial, and a 46th defendant proved to be incoherent.
