This Monday, Bruges Criminal Court sentenced a notary from Bruges to 10 years in prison for rape and torture. The victim, who was unable to remember what happened, recognised her attacker while she was in a state of hypnosis. The notary had raped the victim on June 17th, 2010 at a bed & breakfast in Oostkamp. The victim was unable to remember what happened. When hypnotised, she recognised the notary as the man who had raped her. There was no physical evidence available to support her claim.
The man has always denied the charges and claimed that the girl had called for help that night and he had responded. He found her bleeding and took her to hospital. He was sentenced on Monday to 10 years in prison.
